Psychotherapy in English
Although I'm not a native English speaker, I enjoy working with people from different countries and cultural backgrounds. I am offering Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) which is one of the few forms of psychotherapy that has been scientifically tested and found to be effective in hundreds of clinical trials for many different disorders.
Cognitive behavioral therapy is usually focused on the present and problem-solving oriented. Patients acquire specific skills that involve identifying distorted thinking, modifying beliefs, relating to others in different ways, and changing behaviors. Procedure
If you are interested in either individual psychotherapy or counselling please contact me via phone or email. I will get back to you as soon as I can and schedule a first ‘getting-to-know-each-other’ appointment.
If we decide to start a therapy we will usually schedule one session per week at a mutually convenient time. A regular psychotherapy session takes 50 minutes. Short-term psychotherapy is 24 sessions. Long-term psychotherapy is 60 to 80 sessions.
If we agree to work together, I usually recommend to meet on a weekly basis at the beginning of therapy/counselling/coaching. After a while the frequency can be reduced by mutual agreement.

Private pay
The preliminary session. This first meeting is no therapy or counselling session. We get to know each other a bit and see whether psychotherapy, counseling or coaching is indicated.
Under certain circumstances, it is useful to pay for psychotherapy yourself. For instance,
Costs for each additional session (50 minutes) is 100,55€ (according to the Gebührenordnung für Psychotherapeuten /GOP).
In case you cannot pay this amount of money, don´t hesitate to contact me. We can try to find an arrangement.
Under certain circumstances, it is useful to pay for psychotherapy yourself. For instance,
- none of your data or diagnoses are shared with your health insurance company
- only you and your psychotherapist know about your psychotherapy. This might be helpful in case you consider to obtain a variety of insurance later on (i.e. life insurances, private health insurance) or of you seek a job in the German state service ("Verbeamtung").
- there are no formalities involved (e.g. the formal application to the insurance company)
- you don´t have to wait for the approval of your insurance company
- you can determine the frequency and number of sessions yourself
- there has to be no mental illness registered according to the diagnostic criteria of ICD-10 and DSM-V
